You just have to love the BBC for their documentaries! This one is a great example. The story of the Rover brand being told from start to finish. They had some great cars, some mediocre cars, and then went into oblivion. I just don't share the hate on the SD1, maybe it's because a friend of mine has one that promised everything but never fully delivered sitting in a garage somewhere in Luxemburg. It's worth watching anyway!

When they are talking about the P6 the commentator sounds exactly like Pongo from the 101 Dalmatians.

Edit: Thats supposed to start at 11:37, but y'know, Kinja.

I really like the SD1 :) should have been a world-beater, but hobbled by the time it was built in. Real real shame.

A friend of mine still has one. His dad had one back in the day and he and his brother caught the bug. His brother has a 6-cyl with an LPG kit as a DD, a V8 for meets and several parts/donor cars. He built one for himself with the help of his brother a couple of years ago but had the worst of luck with it. Once it was fully finished someone running a red light hit him, and the insurance tried to dick him around. He finally got the money but the car sat for two years or so. Then the bored out 4.9? liter crate engine from england got delivered with some of the valve springs being a different size, then the steering broke, and so on and so on. It's currently sitting in a garage. The body is showing early signs of rust again so a full on strip and repaint would be needed, plus some mechanical stuff. He is still to attached to it to sell it, but he also isn't willing to pour more money down this bottomless pit.

Dude that really really sucks. It's hard not to get disheartened after all that. I wonder if he'll ever get it all sorted on the road so he can enjoy it.

I'm assuming it's LHD. If it's RHD and still around by the time I need another project, I'd love to finish it off :)
